About shorelines
The decorator's job is to "see" the client's world and life, then create an atmosphere for living
derived from the passions and hopes of the client's past, present, and future.
Interior decoration should establish a sense of place, where the surface materials of the home
reflect the colour tones and textures seen through the doors and windows. The client’s personal style
is then established through artwork, furniture, and fabric choices, placed to complement the views of
city and landscape. Blending antiques with modern and contemporary objects establishes sophistication,
while the infusion of personal collections and photographs act as touchstones for the client,
converting a house into a cosy home.
shorelines is owned and operated by Gregory Grammer, an interior decorator.
Trained in television production, Gregory received a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
in 1983 from Baylor University in Texas. Following a Baylor Media Study Program in London and a subsequent
International Management Course across the capitals of Europe, a fervor for the Grand Tour ensued.
Over the next 20 years, extensive travel continued throughout Europe,
China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Botswana,
Zimbabwe, Chile, Ecuador, Easter Island, and the Galapagos Islands.
From 1985-1990, Gregory managed the art collection and design
specifications of two 10,000 sq. ft. office interiors in San Antonio, Texas.
Gregory and his wife Cygi spent 1991 and 1992 in Seattle, Washington,
living in the Pike Place Market area, absorbing the culture and continuing their formal educations.
Arriving in Nova Scotia in 1993 with their children, Gregory opened a coffee house
and bookstore, The Reading Grounds.
In 2000, prompted by a guest to his newly renovated 19th century home,
Gregory began decorating others' homes and businesses on Nova Scotia's South Shore.
Through this venture, Gregory has created and managed clients' art collections, re-focusing
their homes and businesses on their personal identities within the context of the seaside landscape.
Thus
shorelines was established.
In 2005, Gregory took advantage of an opportunity to work in Austin, Texas.
Collaborating with builders John and Kelly Siemering, a Showhouse for "Brilliant" magazine was created
and photographed for the May 2006 issue.
Now, shorelines is resettled in Austin.
